Zines: Virgin #1

Virgin #1 is a quarter-size zine published anonymously by a nineteen-year-old woman. Virgin #1 explores her self-discovery process as a "gayer side of bisexual" woman, and lukewarm and confusing dating and make-out experiences that followed. The author explores issues of identifying with the GBLT community without having had sex, issues of desire and asexual identity, and dealing with criticism and teasing because of being a virgin. She sums it up this way: "Basically, I'm not getting any and never have had any. This doesn't really bother me, but it bothers the rest of the world, and this does bother me." A great little zine that is packed with interesting mini-stories and musings, with a cute layout. As a very sexual queer person this zine held my attention and brings up some important issues of inclusion in the GBLT/queer communities.
